Colour palette is so important when styling an outfit, depending on skin tone and hair colour different shades can look different. Experts suggest that almost any color can be worn effectively, but the key lies in how and where you incorporate it into your outfit, as well as the specific shade chosen.

When wearing colour in outfits, compliment the tone and colouring of your skin and hair.

Determining your undertone can be as simple as examining the color of your veins: if they appear more blue, you likely have cool undertones, while a greenish hue indicates warm undertones. If you notice a mix of green and blue, you might have a neutral undertone. Additionally cool toned skin tend to have red, blue or pink hues, warm toned skin tends to have orangeish and olivey hues.

If you have warm undertones and light hair you tend to suit medium tones of greens, pinks, oranges and yellows. Try subtle blues and neutrals including browns and greys. Avoid pastels and colours like burgundy if you're super blonde. Celebrities with this tone - Hailey Bieber and Cameron Diaz.

If you have warm undertones with dark hair try medium and dark greens, jewel tones, burgundy and maroons, neutrals and deep yellows and oranges. Fuschia also looks great. Pastels may clash with your warm undertones. Celebs with this tone - Zendaya and Eva Mendes.

If you have cool undertones and light hair try cool shades of light green and pinks, medium blues, deep purples, light yellows, and neutrals. Go for soft tones avoid rich yellows and oranges. Celebs who have this tone - Nicole Kidman and Anya Taylor-Joy.

If you have cool undertones and dark hair you tend to suit all shades of green, cool pinks and reds, neutral browns and lilac. Try vivid colours they usually pop on your tone of skin and dark hair. Celebs with this tone - Lupita Nyong'o and Anne Hathaway.

Remember undertones aren't the same as skin colour! darker skin tones can be cool, warm or neutral the same way lighter skin colours can.
