Teaming up with three guest curators, London Fashion Week will delve into themes of black culture emphasizing self-love, south Asian culture highlighting pattern, textile, and craftsmanship, and "queer culture" with a special focus on emerging voices from the trans community.
To commemorate the anniversary year, the BFC has developed a "40 for 40" programme featuring catwalk shows, presentations, panel talks and various other events. On Sunday, June 9, the BFC will transform the Groucho Club into an activation space, offering designers and brands a platform to showcase their work.
BFC chief executive Caroline Rush has said “We will celebrate and pay homage to some of the cultures which contribute so much to the UK fashion industry, the aim is to build on this with different cultures each year.”
This new format will encourage diversity within fashion week presentations, also giving opportunity to underrepresented designers.
